A late-night breakup turned destructive in a hurry, ending with a shattered windshield, a damaged minivan, and a woman taken to jail on felony charges.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just before 11:31 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, to a residence at 2250 NW 42nd St. in Ocala for a reported aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon.
The victim told deputies he and Kaylee Arnold had been in a dating relationship for several months and were living together. The situation unraveled after he said he caught Arnold texting her ex-boyfriend. He told deputies he broke off the relationship and walked outside toward his vehicle to leave.
That is when things escalated.
The victim said Arnold came out of the apartment holding a yellow hammer and threw it, striking the front windshield of his Chrysler minivan. He said Arnold then picked the hammer back up, walked toward him, and began swinging it in his direction. He told her to drop the hammer and threw it away from her so she could not grab it again.
The damage did not stop there.
According to the report, Arnold then got into her blue Ford Flex SUV and intentionally crashed it into the victim’s minivan, causing damage to the passenger side. The victim estimated the damage would cost about $5,000 to repair.
Deputies contacted Arnold at the scene and read her Miranda rights. She agreed to speak and admitted throwing the hammer at the vehicle. When asked if she was throwing it at the victim, she told deputies she did not know but said he was standing next to the vehicle where it hit.
Arnold also admitted she used her SUV to strike the minivan, telling deputies she was angry and upset because the relationship had just ended. She said she has anger issues and acted out of frustration.
Arnold was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail.
She faces one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, a felony, and one count of criminal mischief causing $1,000 or more in property damage. She is being held without bond.
