Tense Tempers: Local Man Throws Lawn Trimmer Battery in Domestic Scuffle

Battery and Bandages: Family Altercation Turns into a Lawn Trimmer Showdown

In what can only be described as a domestic dispute worthy of a reality TV episode, Robert Carlisle found himself in hot water this weekend over a spat involving, of all things, a bandage on a dog’s leg.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Carlisle got into a heated verbal altercation with a family member over whether the bandage on the family dog’s leg was too tight. What started as a disagreement about pet care quickly escalated into something more fitting for a cage match. The tension boiled over when the family member stormed off to the garage, slamming the door in true dramatic fashion. Carlisle, determined to defend the sanctity of quiet door-closing, followed to reprimand him.

The verbal sparring soon became physical, with pushing and shoving on both sides. Not content with just words, the family member allegedly landed a punch to Carlisle’s head. Not to be outdone, Carlisle retaliated in the most Florida-man way possible: by hurling a lawn trimmer battery at his adversary. Carlisle claims he wasn’t aiming at anything specific—just, you know, in the general direction.

Amidst the chaos, a third party valiantly stepped in to play peacemaker, inserting themselves between the two combatants. Unfortunately, their efforts were as successful as a referee in a bar fight.

Deputy J. Bloom arrived to find a scene worthy of a courtroom drama. Both parties shared their versions of events, while physical evidence, including abrasions on the family member’s neck and jaw, seemed to back up his account of the scuffle. Carlisle, meanwhile, admitted to throwing the battery but assured the deputy he “didn’t throw it hard.”

To make matters worse for Carlisle, deputies uncovered a previous domestic battery conviction from 2002, making this his second tango with the law over such matters. With all this in mind, Carlisle was arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail, leaving behind what we can only imagine is a very tense household.
