Tased and Confused: Local Man Tasered After Smashing Ex’s Car

A domestic disturbance call on May 22nd in Marion County escalated into a chaotic scene, ending with Bennie Thompson III, 35, being tasered and apprehended by deputies.

Authorities responded to 2101 SW 39th Avenue, where they discovered shattered glass and an enraged Thompson, identified by his distinctive red shirt and black pants. According to the victim, Thompson had used a rusted metal pipe to smash her car windows while she was inside, fearing for her life.

As deputies approached, Thompson resisted arrest, repeatedly ignoring commands and attempting to flee. A brief foot chase ensued, during which Deputy Depka and others tried to subdue him. The pursuit ended when a taser strike brought Thompson to the ground, allowing deputies to finally handcuff him.

Evidence at the scene, including the shattered glass and the metal pipe found near a car jack, corroborated the victim’s account. The victim also reported receiving numerous phone calls from Thompson before the incident, and described his aggressive behavior as she tried to leave for her mother’s house.

Thompson now faces charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest without violence, capping off a night of domestic chaos with a trip to jail.
