Horsing Around: Boyfriend’s Black Eye Blunder Ends in Jail

Lovers’ Quarrel Ends in Arrest: A Horse Tale in Marion County

In a case that’s more soap opera than horse whisperer, a domestic dispute led to the arrest of Daniel Dominguez, 28, after a dramatic confrontation involving a concerned brother, a suspicious injury, and an unexpected foot chase.

On May 18, the tranquility of rural Marion County was shattered when Maria Sanchez Hernandez, who works with horses, allegedly sustained an eye injury. Initially claiming it was a work-related mishap, Maria’s story didn’t sit right with her mother. By May 22, the family drama kicked into high gear when Maria’s brother, Oscar Sanchez Hernandez, played detective and confronted his sister at her workplace. The showdown ended with Dominguez making a swift exit on foot.

Unfazed, Oscar dialed the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, setting off a chain of events that led Deputy Trainee Barboza and Deputy Gomez to the scene. After some linguistic gymnastics and a game of hide-and-seek, they tracked down Maria, who finally confessed: the black eye was courtesy of Dominguez, not a rogue metal carport as previously claimed.

Dominguez, cornered and cuffed, had a hard time keeping his story straight. Initially clueless about the injury, he later suggested Maria fell. Admitting he was intoxicated during their spat, Dominguez conceded he couldn’t recall the altercation’s finer points.

The deputies, piecing together the puzzle with Oscar’s help, concluded the episode with Dominguez in cuffs and a trip to the Marion County Jail. As for the horses, they remain silent witnesses to the latest twist in this family saga.
