Love in the Fast Lane: When Car Troubles Lead to Strangulation

Highway Showdown: Local Man Arrested for Domestic Battery After Car Trouble

A roadside encounter took a dark turn on July 14 when Dewey Dodgen Jr., a man with a notorious history of battery, found himself on the wrong side of the law once again.

After a breakdown left his girlfriend stranded on NE Highway 314, tensions boiled over. According to the victim, when Dodgen approached her, she attempted to flee, only to be met with threats that left her no choice but to return. What followed was a verbal spat that escalated quickly into a physical altercation, culminating in Dodgen allegedly strangling her until she could barely breathe and ultimately causing injury to her face.

When deputies arrived, they found clear signs of the altercation: bruises around her eye and ligature marks on her neck. Despite his attempts to downplay the incident, insisting it was merely a heated argument about her car, the evidence told a different story. With four prior convictions for battery under his belt, Dodgen was promptly arrested and taken to the Marion County Jail without incident.
