(Photos: Marion County Fire Rescue) Late in the night of August 14, Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) units responded to a commercial structure fire at a convenience store located in the 9400 block of SE Maricamp Road in Ocala. The fire was reported at 11:39 p.m. by a 911 caller who observed smoke and flames coming from the building.
Shores Engine #17 arrived on the scene at 11:41 p.m. and found the 2,000-square-foot structure ablaze, with visible flames and smoke pouring through the storefront. Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines to combat the fire, with additional support arriving from Rolling Greens Station #28, Belleview Station #18, and Shady Station #16.Engine #28 Captain assumed command of the scene, coordinating the efforts of the incoming units.

Rescue #17 conducted a primary search of the building, while Engine #28 established a water supply. Battalion Chief #3 was on hand to oversee safety protocols. The fire was brought under control by 11:53 p.m.Fortunately, no one was inside the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.

This swift response by MCFR highlights their dedication to protecting the community and ensuring the safety of both residents and first responders.
