From Storytime to Suppertime: January Events in Belleview

Belleview’s January Agenda: Money Smarts, Mayor’s Bedtime Tales, and Foodie Fun

The City of Belleview is wasting no time kicking off the new year with a trio of events that promise to enlighten, engage, and entertain the community. Whether you’re looking to brush up on your budgeting skills, spark your child’s interest in saving, or indulge in some local eats, January’s calendar has you covered.

Start with Storytime
Mayor Christine Dobkowski swaps her city council agenda for a children’s book at Storytime with the Mayor on Tuesday, January 7, at 5 p.m. at the Belleview Community Center. The book “Dollars and Sense” introduces kids to the value of saving, with a hands-on activity to keep things fun and a free light dinner to keep bellies full. It’s never too early to instill financial smarts—just don’t be surprised if your kid starts asking for a raise in their allowance.

Fix Your Finances
For adults looking to polish their fiscal chops, the Financial Literacy Workshop on Tuesday, January 14, at 10 a.m. is the perfect fit. Hosted by Mid-Florida Credit Union, this free session will dish out practical advice on managing credit. Forget the jargon—this is financial wisdom served straight, no chaser.

Foodies, Rejoice!
Rounding out the month is the always-popular Friday Foodie Fest at Lake Lillian on Friday, January 17, from 5 to 9 p.m. With a lineup of food trucks like Fat Tiki, Fatboyz Donutz, and Royal Hibachi, it’s a cheat day’s paradise. Add inflatables, face painting, and a DJ spinning tunes, and you’ve got an evening of fun for the whole family.
