Husband Arrested After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident, Gunfire in Marion County
Marion County deputies arrested a man on January 15 after a domestic dispute escalated into allegations of violence and gunfire, according to an arrest report.
Deputies responded to a residence in reference to a disturbance between Cash Hughes and his wife, Tinker Hughes, around 10:45 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies interviewed Tinker, who alleged that her husband entered the home through the back door and began yelling accusations of infidelity before toppling a computer desk.
The confrontation reportedly turned physical, with Tinker stating that Cash pushed her to the ground, choked her to the point she couldn’t breathe, and later fired two shots inside the bedroom with a chrome .22 revolver. According to the report, Cash then held the firearm to her head, threatening to kill her, before allegedly choking her again.
Fearing for her life, Tinker fled to her son’s bedroom for safety. Deputies documented bruising and redness on her neck consistent with her account, as well as two bullet holes—one above the bed and another in the bedroom door.
Cash denied touching his wife, claiming they had argued upon his return home, during which he tipped over the desk. However, the couple’s children corroborated hearing both the argument and gunshots.
Cash Hughes was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail. He faces charges of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
No injuries requiring medical attention were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
