Moped Mayhem: BB Gun Bandits Lead Police on Chase Before Getting Caugh

Moped Misadventure Turns into Wild Pursuit and Arrest

A dramatic sequence of events unfolded in Marion County on April 3, 2025, involving two young men, a black moped, a BB gun, and a wild chase. What started as a routine day in the neighborhood quickly escalated when two juveniles, later identified as Alexis Joel Diaz and Titan G. Kiner, allegedly made the mistake of pointing what appeared to be a firearm at two young victims on NW 67th Place.

According to a witness, the duo drove by with the passenger, Kiner, pulling out a black gun and pointing it at the two children. Six gunshots were heard shortly after. As one does, law enforcement sprang into action. After a brief search, Diaz and Kiner were spotted at a nearby intersection, with Diaz already making the decision to flee the scene, leading to a high-speed pursuit.

Diaz, apparently not keen on stopping for law enforcement, took a detour straight into a ditch before spinning around and continuing his escape. The officers, not to be outdone, continued their chase, even using a public announcement system to issue commands. Finally, Diaz pulled over, dismounted, and did the thing you don’t do when you’re being pursued: he reached for the gun.

What appeared to be a dangerous weapon turned out to be a BB gun, albeit one that could easily pass for the real thing, considering its menacing appearance. Diaz promptly threw it away, probably figuring it wouldn’t win him any favors with law enforcement.

Kiner, who had remained behind at the original scene, was eventually apprehended as well, although he was initially unaware of any BB gun antics. But during a follow-up interview with his mother in tow, Kiner admitted to pointing the BB gun at the victims, confessing that it was all in a day’s mischief.

Both Diaz and Kiner were arrested, with Diaz also being cited for driving without a valid license. The pair now faces serious charges, including fleeing and eluding law enforcement and the assault with a deadly weapon — even though the weapon in question was just a BB gun. Nonetheless, the law doesn’t play favorites when it comes to threats, real or perceived.

The victims, understandably shaken by the ordeal, confirmed the terrifying nature of the incident, with one stating his heart “dropped” upon seeing the gun pointed at him. Both juvenile victims heard the gunshots, further cementing the danger they were placed in.

In the end, both suspects were transported to the Marion County Jail, where they will likely be reflecting on their ill-fated decision to point a BB gun at innocent bystanders – and the subsequent moped getaway attempt that went far from smoothly.
