WATCH – Withdrawal Denied: Suspect Busted 11 Minutes After Ocala Bank Heist

It didn’t take long for the long arm of the law to catch up.

Just after 9:30 a.m. on May 3, Ocala Police raced to TD Bank on SE 17th Street following a reported robbery. The suspect had already made off with more than $5,000—after handing the teller a note claiming she was armed.

But the getaway didn’t last long. Within 11 minutes, officers spotted Christina Gates Thagard heading west on SW College Road, not far from the College of Central Florida. She was taken into custody and brought to #OcalaPD headquarters for questioning.

Inside her vehicle, police found a stash of evidence: the stolen cash, clothing, a medical glove, and other incriminating items. Surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts backed up the arrest.

Detective Pfiefer determined there was probable cause, and Thagard was charged with robbery with a firearm. She now resides at the Marion County Jail—no withdrawal slips needed.
