Deputies Say Mother’s Day Mayhem Ended in a High-Speed Chase

A Marion County woman accused of bringing chaos to a Mother’s Day family dispute capped off her week with a high-speed chase through Ocala, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Ta’Bria Ajire Wooden, already wanted on charges including burglary with battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, led deputies on a dangerous pursuit Wednesday after she was spotted behind the wheel of a white Ford Fusion near NE 3rd Street. Deputies say Wooden ignored lights, sirens, and several traffic laws as she fled through busy intersections, eventually stopping at NW 1st Avenue and NE 10th Street, where she was arrested without further incident.

The pursuit came just days after deputies say Wooden kicked off a Mother’s Day horror show at her ex’s home. According to reports, Wooden showed up uninvited, allegedly assaulted the father of her child, forced her way inside, pulled a handgun with an extended magazine from her car, and threatened to shoot the family over a custody dispute. Deputies say she choked the man in the doorway, kissed the baby, and handed over the gun in a black leather bag to avoid getting caught as a felon before fleeing when law enforcement arrived.

Victims told deputies they tried to wrestle the gun from Wooden but were unsuccessful. It wasn’t until Wednesday that deputies caught up with her—this time with flashing lights and a K9 unit in tow.

Wooden now faces a laundry list of charges, including battery by strangulation, aggravated assault, burglary with battery, and fleeing law enforcement.
