A mobile home was destroyed Monday morning when fire swept through the structure, threatening nearby residences and trees.
Marion County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched at 11:19 a.m. to the 11700 block of SE 99th Terrace after multiple 911 callers reported the blaze. The single-wide home was fully involved when Spruce Creek Station #30 arrived six minutes later.
Firefighters quickly deployed hoselines as additional units from Shady, Silver Springs Shores, Belleview, and Weirsdale joined the attack. Crews contained the flames by 11:35 a.m., preventing damage to surrounding properties and vegetation.
No injuries were reported, though one dog died in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
