700-pound Trail of Trash Leads Deputies to Marion Oaks Man

When it comes to littering, 33-year-old Justin Vijanio Lopez didn’t just cross the line — he dumped it by the truckload.

Deputies say Lopez admitted to leaving more than 700 pounds of household junk and furniture at the corner of Marion Oaks Boulevard and SW 38th Court Road. The heap was so large that investigators had it hauled to the landfill and weighed, tipping the scales well past Florida’s felony threshold.

The trail of trash wasn’t hard to follow. Code enforcement officers dug through the pile and found mail and packages addressed to Lopez’s home. When deputies later confronted his wife, she called him on speaker — and Lopez quickly confessed. His excuse? He was short on time and didn’t want to leave any more garbage in the garage.

Now he’s facing a felony charge and a $5,000 bond. Turns out, “taking out the trash” can get expensive if you dump it in the wrong place.
