An Ocala woman is facing an attempted murder charge following what investigators described as a violent attack on an elderly victim inside a home Saturday morning.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 9 a.m. on March 21 to a reported stabbing. When they arrived, they learned that 45-year-old Jennifer Michelle Gill had allegedly stabbed an 83-year-old victim multiple times before fleeing the residence.
Deputies began searching the area and located Gill about a mile and a half from the home. She was taken into custody without incident as Major Crimes detectives responded to take over the investigation.
Detectives said the attack began inside the kitchen, where the victim was seated at a table. Investigators determined Gill entered the room, armed herself with a knife, and sprayed the victim in the eyes with soapy water before carrying out the stabbing.
During an interview with detectives, Gill admitted to the attack. According to the report, she also made a statement indicating she wished the knives had been sharper.
Gill was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where she is being held without bond. The condition of the victim has not been released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
