Red, White and Belleview: City’s First Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular Takes Shape

The City of Belleview is continuing preparations for what officials say will be the city’s first Independence Day fireworks celebration, scheduled for Saturday, July 4, at the Belleview Sports Complex as part of the nationwide America250 observance marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.

According to an update presented to the Belleview City Commission on June 2, planning is well underway for the event, with organizers reporting that activities, food trucks, golf carts, tables, tents, chairs and waste management services have been secured. City staff are also working to finalize water distribution and parking logistics.

Gates will open at 5 p.m., with family-friendly activities planned throughout the evening before the fireworks display begins around 9 p.m. The event is expected to include food trucks, face painting, inflatables and entertainment for all ages.

City officials are encouraging attendees to arrive early and bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating in designated viewing areas throughout the sports complex.

The city plans to provide approximately 600 parking spaces at the sports complex, including designated areas for community partners and handicapped parking. An additional 600 parking spaces are expected to be available between Lake Lillian and Belleview City Hall. Shuttle service is being coordinated with First Baptist Church, EveryDay Church and Church on the Hill to help transport attendees to and from the event. Staff are also researching the rental of a passenger van to supplement transportation needs.

The city is working with Camping World to secure an RV that will serve as a command center for the event. Community outreach efforts are also ramping up through press releases, radio advertising and targeted social media campaigns.

City Administrator Mariah Moody said the celebration is the result of months of planning and cooperation among city staff and community partners, including Marion County Government, Al & Sons Mill Work, Orange Blossom Gardens Lions Club of Lady Lake and Preferred Insurance.

Commission documents show the city has secured $3,500 in sponsorship funding from community partners, with an additional $6,500 in potential sponsorships still pending.
