A Summerfield man was arrested Tuesday after detectives say an investigation uncovered hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material linked to his Google account.
Bradley Russell Reed, 33, was charged with 20 counts of possessing child sexual abuse material and one count of using a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, the investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received reports that a Google account named “Homie Simpson” had uploaded suspected child sexual abuse material between June and July.
Detectives said the account was connected to Reed through several email addresses, a telephone number and other identifying information. Records reportedly showed that some of the account activity originated from a Belleview residence where Reed was known to stay.
A search warrant served on Google revealed that the account had been active since 2016 and contained photographs of Reed, payment information in his name and approximately 420 images and videos investigators classified as child sexual abuse material or related content, according to the affidavit. Detectives reviewed 20 of the files before ending the examination because hundreds of additional files appeared potentially chargeable.
Deputies located Reed Tuesday afternoon at a residence on Southeast 62nd Court in Summerfield. The affidavit states that Reed attempted to conceal a backpack containing a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine during that encounter.
During an interview, Reed reportedly acknowledged owning the accounts and phone numbers involved in the investigation and said he had controlled the primary Google account since 2016. Detectives said Reed gave conflicting answers when questioned about the illegal material.
Reed was arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail. He was ordered held without bond pending his first appearance.
