The City of Belleview invites community members to participate in a full schedule of public meetings, programs and events throughout September. The month’s activities include opportunities for civic engagement, family friendly programming, health and wellness and more.
• The Belleview City Commission will hold its regular meetings on Tuesday, September 1, and Tuesday, September 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the City Commission Meeting Room at Belleview City Hall.
City Commission meetings are open to the public and provide residents with an opportunity to stay informed about City business, upcoming projects, policies and other matters affecting the Belleview community.
• Families are invited to attend Storytime with the Mayor on Tuesday, September 1, at 5:00 p.m. at the Belleview Community Center. The program provides children and families with an opportunity to enjoy a story together while interacting with Mayor Christine Dobkowski in an informal community setting. Light dinner is provided and all children get to take home a free book courtesy of Goodwill Bookworks.
• The City of Belleview’s free community yoga program begins with classes on Wednesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 23, from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. at the Belleview Community Center.
Classes are designed to accommodate participants of varying experience and ability levels, including those who are new to yoga. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat, although a limited number of mats will be available. The program is offered at no cost as part of the City’s continuing effort to provide accessible recreational and wellness opportunities for residents.
• The City of Belleview will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks with its annual Freedom Walk on Friday, September 11, at 6:00 p.m. at the Belleview Community Center.
The annual observance provides the community with an opportunity to remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, while recognizing the courage and sacrifice of first responders, members of the military and others who have dedicated themselves to public service.
• The City of Belleview will partner with OneBlood for a community blood drive on Monday, September 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Belleview City Hall.
Eligible community members are encouraged to donate. Blood donations help maintain the supply needed by hospitals and patients throughout the region and provide residents with a direct opportunity to support those in need.
• The City’s Friday Foodie Fest returns to Lake Lillian on Friday, September 18, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The monthly event brings residents and visitors together at Lake Lillian for an evening of food vendors, activities, shopping and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.
