Domestic Drama: Margaritas and Mayhem
Marion County deputies arrested Alexander Martinez, 32, on charges of domestic battery after a margarita-fueled argument with his wife, Kenlani Garsoni, escalated into violence on May 11.
The fuel for their fiery argument was a few pre-made margaritas bought from a gas station. This detail was shared by Martinez himself when he recounted the evening’s events to the deputies. Apparently, the couple had purchased the pre-made margaritas from a local gas station and were enjoying them in their kitchen when the conversation that sparked the dispute took place.
The trouble began when Garsoni was on a call with a friend from Orlando. The friend suggested she needed a break from motherhood — a comment that did not sit well with Martinez.
According to the police report, Martinez overheard the conversation and went from zero to fuming in record time. He reportedly followed Garsoni into their bedroom, where the confrontation intensified. Garsoni claimed Martinez grabbed her, and in the heat of the moment, headbutted her, causing her lip to bleed.
The situation continued to unravel as Martinez allegedly restrained Garsoni, who fought back by scratching and tearing his tank top. In a dramatic turn, she managed to break free and fled, pocket knife in hand, seeking help from neighbors.
Deputies arrived to find Martinez pacing and shouting into his phone. After being read his Miranda rights, Martinez claimed Garsoni attacked him first, ripping his shirt and pulling his hair, but admitted to confronting her over the phone call.
Despite Martinez’s side of the story, deputies took note of Garsoni’s injuries and Martinez’s own admissions. He was arrested and taken to Marion County Jail, where he remains without bond.
