(Photos: Marion County Fire Rescue) In the early hours of Wednesday morning, Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) swiftly responded to a residential structure fire in the 16500 block of NE 58th Street, Silver Springs. The emergency call came in at 1:39 a.m., with the 911 caller reporting flames spreading underneath a mobile home.
MCFR’s Battalion Chief #2, alongside Lynne Engine #4, was first to arrive on the scene at 1:49 a.m., discovering an active fire beneath the structure.
Firefighters immediately deployed a hose line and initiated an aggressive offensive attack to prevent the fire from spreading into the home. Additional units from Salt Springs Station #15, Anthony Station #1, and Fort McCoy Station #7 arrived to assist in establishing a water supply, rapid intervention, and fire attack operations.
Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the responding teams, firefighters managed to stop the fire before it could cause significant damage to the interior of the residence, effectively saving the home. Both primary and secondary searches of the property confirmed that all residents had safely evacuated on their own before crews arrived.
The fire was declared under control at 1:56 a.m., with no injuries reported to either civilians or firefighters. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. This rapid response highlights the efficiency and effectiveness of MCFR in protecting the community and mitigating potential disasters.
