(Photos: Marion County Fire Rescue) On Saturday evening, August 24, 2024, a mobile home fire in Belleview prompted a rapid response from the Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) South County units. The blaze, reported at 5:57 p.m. in the 5200 block of SE 120th St, was initially observed by a 911 caller who noted smoke emerging from the windows and eaves of the structure.
Belleview Station #18 units arrived within a minute to find heavy smoke pouring from the double-wide mobile home. Firefighters from Rescue 18 conducted a primary search and discovered that all occupants had safely exited the home. Meanwhile, Engine 18 crews deployed a hose line to combat the flames, and Tower 2 performed a secondary search, confirming no one remained inside.
Additional support came from Spruce Creek Station #30, Villages of Marion Station #10, and Marion Oaks Station #24, who assisted with extinguishing the fire and conducting overhaul operations. The fire was declared under control at 6:24 p.m., and the power company arrived to disconnect electricity to the residence.
There were no reported injuries to either civilians or firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.
