On the morning of September 1, 2024, Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) units responded to a significant fire incident on the 5200 block of SE 26th Avenue in Ocala. The blaze, first reported at 8:25 a.m., was described by a 911 caller as a house fire with rapidly spreading flames.
Upon arrival at 8:32 a.m., firefighters from Shady Station #16 discovered that the fire was actually originating from a recreational vehicle (RV) that was fully engulfed in flames. Reinforcements from Rolling Greens Station #28 arrived on the scene shortly thereafter, bolstering the firefighting efforts. Battalion Chief #3 took command upon arrival and coordinated the operations.

Thanks to the quick and coordinated response, the fire was brought under control by 9:01 a.m. No injuries were reported among civilians or firefighters. The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation.
