Summerfield Road Rage Ends in Arrest for Repeat Offender
Marion County deputies responded to an unusual roadside brawl on September 2nd, after a frantic call from a Good Samaritan. Witness Shawn Johnson reported a Nissan Frontier parked on the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 441, where a man was seen “hitting two females” before one of them stumbled away with a bloody face.
Upon arrival, Deputy T. Cetin found a shaken mother-daughter duo. The 14-year-old, covered in blood and clutching broken nails, was visibly distressed. According to the victims, the family feud erupted after an argument about Tobias Patterson’s son, Christopher, and his questionable drinking habits. When the teen told her stepfather to “shut up,” Patterson lashed out, striking her in the back of the head.
The scuffle escalated when the mother, who was driving, tried to intervene but found herself being punched instead. The enraged Patterson reportedly exited the vehicle, yanked the mother out, and continued the assault.
Authorities tracked Patterson to his residence, where he played hide-and-seek for nearly two hours before finally surrendering. A quick background check revealed he’s no stranger to violence, with three previous battery convictions in Nevada, including one involving a deadly weapon.
For now, Tobias Patterson has a new address: the Marion County Jail, facing charges of domestic battery, child abuse, and resisting arrest without violence. And while this recent escapade left the daughter bloodied and the mother reminiscing about past attacks, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office has ensured this family drama’s latest chapter ends behind bars.
