Crime Doesn’t Pay – Especially at Gator Joe’s
Gator Joe’s in Marion County is known for its laid-back lakeside vibes, but on August 30th, it was the scene of a heist straight out of a bad action flick. Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a robbery that started with a Snapchat message and ended with two guys in cuffs.
The victim, who apparently thought he was in for a simple gun deal with a high school buddy, met up with Terrance “TK” Brinson Jr. in the parking lot. The weapon on the menu? A Glock handgun. Brinson arrived with his friend, Macai Rhem, in a blue Dodge Charger. After a little chit-chat and $450 changing hands, the victim showed off his own prized possession—a black Glock 43x.
That’s when things went south faster than an August thunderstorm. Brinson, saying “what a pretty gun,” grabbed the Glock, and Rhem hit the gas. The victim, probably questioning his high school reunion decisions, was left in the parking lot, Glock-less and $450 lighter.
Thanks to security footage and some quick detective work (aka scrolling through Snapchat), deputies tracked down Brinson and Rhem. They found the blue Dodge Charger parked at a gas station, but before they could say “freeze,” the car took off. The dynamic duo was eventually nabbed in Ocala, denying all knowledge of the robbery like it was just another day at the beach.
Turns out, crime doesn’t pay, even if you used to be classmates. Now Brinson and Rhem have a new home address: the Marion County Jail.
