A limited sample of Voice of South Marion readers made their stance on the proposed “penny” sales tax renewal loud and clear: a firm “no”. In about 20 comments made on a recent Facebook poll, only one response appeared to be in favor of the tax. Here are what those who plan to vote against the extension had to say:
*****
“I was for it back in 2020-2024 but for 20 years, absolutely not. They finally after 25 years paved cr25 which that tax was for. The developers should be paying the impact fees. I had to pay 25 years ago, so they need to pay their share!! They just paved cr25 and are ruining it already by these trucks.”
*****
“Greedy gov wants to line their pockets but want everybody to pay for everything. Developers and new home sales should be paying for all this not us.”
*****
“Developers need to be paying for infrastructure! This county is being ruined.”
*****
“Never vote for a tax! Even if they promise it will go away. They never do.”
*****
“Tax all the new people moving here, tax the developers. Not us.”
*****
“Nope. Construction ruining all roads in Marion county!”
*****
“You should not have allowed all the building up here with more people here before you fixed the roads but as always you never fix the roads first because everything is done backwards and half ass here. One cannot believe your promises either. Also NO penny sales tax because you all in County & State has made Marion County an over crowded (expletive)”
