On Sunday, November 10, 2024, Community Harvest Baptist Church’s Youth Group, led by Jared Blackburn, hosted their Annual Chicken Pileau Fundraiser to support various youth activities.
Approximately 230 meals were sold at Community Harvest Baptist Church, located at 14915 SE 36th Ave in Summerfield, between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. The traditional Chicken Pileau feast included homemade coleslaw, green beans, a slice of white bread, bread and butter pickles, iced tea, and dessert—all for just $10.
The goal of the fundraiser is to keep the youth engaged in church activities and Christian events, such as Rock the Universe, where the group visits Universal Studios for a Christian concert. “The youth get the opportunity to experience all of Universal Studios, including rides,” explained Tiffany Yerk. The trip lasts an entire weekend. Carlee, a 13-year-old Youth Group participant, shared that her favorite part of *Rock the Universe* was spending the weekend with her friends from CHBC’s Youth Group. Braylon, age 14, said his favorite parts were the music and the rides.
Approximately 20 members of CHBC’s Youth Group volunteered at the Chicken Pileau fundraiser, along with parents and family members who also lent a hand. The group actively participates in other community service events as well.
