A 68-year-old Ocala motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon following a crash on Maricamp Road near Locust Place, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
FHP said the crash occurred around 1:05 p.m. on May 23. Investigators said the motorcycle was traveling westbound in the outside lane of Maricamp Road when it overturned onto its left side for reasons that remain under investigation.
The motorcycle continued sliding westbound before coming to a final rest in the outside lane of the roadway, troopers said. The rider was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
According to the report, the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
