Father-Son Feud Ends in Arrest After Phone Snatching Escalates to Felony Charges
A Marion County man found himself in handcuffs after a family argument spiraled into a felony arrest on January 10.
Deputies responded to a 911 call where Charles DiBiasie, 67, reported a heated confrontation with his son, named William DiBiasie, who shares the residence. According to the elder DiBiasie, the trouble began when his son stormed back into the home after being asked to leave, cursing and refusing to calm down.
When the senior DiBiasie reached for the phone to call authorities, the younger DiBiasie allegedly upped the ante—grabbing the phone, hanging up, and later seizing a second phone mid-call. Both devices were reportedly thrown back at his father, though no injuries were reported.
Deputies noted the younger DiBiasie appeared “highly intoxicated” upon their arrival and was described as belligerent and uncooperative during questioning. He reportedly denied all accusations, calling his father “delusional” and demanding to know why deputies were there.
Due to the struggle over the phones and interference with the 911 call, DiBiasie the younger was charged with battery on a person 65 years or older and tampering with a witness. He was booked into the Marion County Jail without further incident.
