Belleview Reels in Another Fishing Derby and Cookout

Belleview is baiting the hook for another round of family fun as registration opens for the 2025 Belleview Fishing Derby and Community Cookout, set for Saturday, April 5, at Lake Lillian.

Young anglers will cast their lines in two age brackets—9 and under, and 10-15 years old—competing for the biggest catch of the day. With awards up for grabs and bragging rights on the line, the competition promises plenty of excitement.

Registration is now live at www.belleviewfl.org/172/local-events, but spots are limited, so families are encouraged to sign up early.

City Administrator Mariah Moody called the event more than just a fishing contest: “It’s about bringing people together. Watching kids light up with excitement as they reel in their catches is a highlight of the day.”

After the derby, the Belleview Police Department will swap fishing rods for grilling tongs, hosting the Annual Community Cookout at the Belleview Community Center. The free event offers food and a chance for residents to connect with local officers.

So, whether you’re in it for the fish or just the food, Belleview’s got a reel good time in store.
