Man Arrested After Alleged Attack With Axe Handle, Threats to Burn House Down

Marion County deputies arrested a man Saturday night after a violent domestic dispute that included threats, false imprisonment, and an alleged assault with a wooden axe handle.

According to the arrest report, the situation unfolded throughout the day on Feb. 15, when Mark Albritton allegedly escalated a series of arguments with his longtime girlfriend, Alicia Walker, over his drug use. The verbal disputes turned physical, culminating in an attack that left Walker bruised and her phone shattered.

The trouble began around 2 p.m. when Albritton reportedly stormed into Walker’s bedroom, made ominous comments about her “getting what’s coming,” and aggressively advanced toward her. A friend, Sandra Hart, attempted to intervene, but Albritton pushed her down, leaving her with scratches.

Hours later, around 5 p.m., Walker told deputies she was resting in bed when Albritton allegedly returned and forcibly held her down, pressing his forehead against hers and demanding she look at him. She struggled to break free, but he reportedly kept her pinned for about two minutes before finally letting her go.

By 11 p.m., the situation had reached its most violent point. Witnesses say Albritton re-entered the home wielding a wooden axe handle—without the axe head—and began striking walls and windows before turning the weapon on Walker, allegedly hitting her on the right side of her face.

When Walker attempted to call 911, Albritton allegedly snatched her phone, threw it to the ground, and shattered the screen. He then threatened to burn the house down with her inside if she called the police.

Walker’s mother, who discovered her daughter’s injuries the next morning, reported the incident to authorities. Deputies later found Albritton walking along E Highway 40 and arrested him without incident. He declined to speak with investigators after being read his rights.

Albritton faces multiple charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, tampering with a witness, and criminal mischief. He was booked into the Marion County Jail.
