WATCH: RV Goes up in Smoke in Ocala

An unoccupied RV decided to self-cremate Monday afternoon, sending thick black smoke into the Ocala sky and drawing a full house of fire trucks to the 200 block of NW 9th Street.

Ocala Fire Rescue crews arrived around 4:55 p.m. to find the recreational vehicle fully engulfed in flames, with fire licking up a nearby tree for good measure.

Engines 1 and 5, Ladder 3, Tower 1, Rescue 3, two battalion chiefs, a safety officer, and plenty of backup from the Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue swarmed the scene.

Multiple hose lines were deployed to douse both the RV and the tree, stopping the blaze before it could spread further.

No injuries were reported—unless you count the RV’s pride. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
