Man Accused of Stealing $2,569 in Video Games from Summerfield Walmart

They didn’t need a cheat code—just nimble fingers and a backpack—but three alleged game-grabbers may have played their last round.

On May 12, deputies say three men coordinated a daylight heist at the Summerfield Walmart, slipping $2,569 worth of Nintendo Switch games from a locked cabinet and walking right out the front door with smiles on their faces—and full backpacks to match.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the trio, later identified as Jesus David Sanofimio Ochoa and two accomplices, loitered around the electronics section before one suspect managed to jimmy open the locked display. With one acting as lookout and another pushing a cart, the group stuffed dozens of titles—including Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Donkey Kong, and Hogwarts Legacy—into a backpack and rolled out without paying a coin.

Surveillance footage helped authorities track the suspects, who reportedly fled the scene in a dark blue sedan. A follow-up investigation revealed the same group hit another Walmart in Ocala just hours later, allegedly making off with another $2,412 in merchandise.

By cross-referencing store video, driver’s license photos, and law enforcement databases, deputies linked the suspects to both crimes. Warrants have been requested for burglary and multiple counts of grand theft.

No word yet on whether they unlocked any achievements—but the high score belongs to law enforcement this time.
