Seven candidates have already entered the race for the Marion County Board of County Commissioners, signaling an early and crowded start to the 2026 election cycle, according to the Marion County Supervisor of Elections Office.
The filings include contenders for two commission seats, with three candidates seeking Seat 2 and four candidates vying for Seat 4, a total of seven hopefuls competing for county leadership positions.
For Seat 2, three candidates have officially filed: Mike Crimi (Republican), Erica Lynne Hay (Republican) and Brien Weidemiller (Republican). The race is expected to center on issues such as growth management, infrastructure demands and fiscal policy as the district continues to see rapid population growth and development pressure.
Seat 4, has drawn even more interest, with four candidates now in the running. Those candidates include Jeff Bairstow (Republican), Clint Barkley (Republican), Anthony Barriner-Massa (No Party Affiliation) and Sherri Meadows (Republican). The contest is shaping up to offer voters a broader range of perspectives, particularly on land use, economic development and the delivery of county services.
The Supervisor of Elections Office will announce the qualifying period, along with official primary and general election dates, later as the 2026 election calendar is finalized. In the meantime, candidates may continue campaigning, collecting petitions and engaging with voters as they work toward securing a place on the ballot.
