A local lawn care professional found himself tangled in a digital turf war after a woman allegedly tried to mow down his reputation — one star at a time.
Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested Kristin Lee Jarvis after she reportedly sent a blitz of 109 text messages in just over three hours on June 24, threatening to destroy a local man’s landscaping business with a flood of fake Google reviews unless he coughed up cash she claimed he owed her boyfriend, Troy Smith.
According to the arrest report, Jarvis made it clear she was ready to nuke Graham’s online reputation, texting things like “Guess what, word of mouth won’t be enough to get you to clean toilets after I’m done with you, f*** boy” and “Let’s see if you can recover from 100 negative reviews, big boy.”
The messages didn’t stop there. Jarvis allegedly followed up with screenshots of one-star reviews, promises to post more, and taunting lines like, “Gunna give what you owe yet?” and “Take the money to his house.” At one point, she even texted Graham his own home address — a move that landed squarely in stalker territory, according to deputies.
Despite Graham insisting he owed nothing and asking her to stop repeatedly, Jarvis allegedly continued the barrage, even creating fake accounts under names like “Kristin L.” and “William Ruggard” to post negative reviews. When Graham confronted her, she denied being involved — then allegedly created more fake reviews.
Things escalated when Graham tried calling the number during a deputy’s visit. Troy Smith answered and, when questioned, reportedly confirmed that Jarvis was in the room with him and said, “If he don’t show up, I’m going to post another one.”
Jarvis now faces charges of extortion and cyberstalking, after allegedly holding Graham’s business hostage with a virtual smear campaign unless she got paid.
If convicted, she may find out the hard way what a one-star review from the justice system looks like.
