Ocala Man Arrested Again on Child Pornography Charges

A Marion County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children detective has arrested an Ocala man already facing similar charges in a separate case.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Henrik Osthed arrested David Rutter on January 15 on four counts of possession of child pornography. Rutter was already out on bond following a July arrest by the Ocala Police Department, where he faces 20 counts of possession of child pornography.

The investigation began on November 6, 2025, when Detective Osthed identified an internet user in Marion County involved in the distribution of 257 files of child sexual abuse material. Investigators reported that many of the files involved sadomasochistic abuse of children as young as infants, with some files involving animals. Through subpoenas and further investigation, detectives identified Rutter as the individual responsible for uploading the material.

Detectives also determined that the files were uploaded from an IP address similar to one connected to Rutter’s earlier arrest by Ocala Police, where he was accused of uploading 27 files of child sexual abuse material.

On January 15, Marion County Sheriff’s Office detectives, along with the agency’s SWAT Team, executed a search warrant at Rutter’s residence in Ocala. During an interview with detectives, Rutter admitted to accessing the dark web, using the accounts identified during the investigation, and sharing child sexual abuse material online.

Investigators seized multiple electronic devices for forensic examination, including one device Rutter attempted to hide inside a bag of cat food after seeing deputies arrive. An initial review of Rutter’s primary device revealed dozens of images of child erotica and four videos involving child celebrities containing child sexual abuse material created using artificial intelligence. Detectives also reported finding additional AI-generated videos depicting early pubescent girls, along with a large number of printed photographs of clothed children and infants inside the bedroom.

Rutter was transported to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held without bond.

Due to the nature of the offenses, the volume of material recovered, and the fact that the alleged crimes occurred while Rutter was out on bond for similar charges, detectives believe there may be live victims. Anyone with additional information is urged to contact Detective Henrik Osthed with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-351-4710.
