A Marion County man was arrested early Sunday following two related domestic violence investigations that deputies say involved an active injunction, repeated 911 hang-ups, and allegations of battery on a pregnant person.
According to arrest affidavits from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence in Marion County during the early morning hours of Feb. 9 after receiving multiple 911 hang-up calls from the same location. Investigators determined the calls were connected to an ongoing domestic dispute involving Jonathan Scott Jensen II, who was reportedly under an active domestic violence injunction at the time.
Deputies allege that during an argument at the residence, Jensen placed his hand around the victim’s neck while outside a camper where the parties were living. The victim did not lose consciousness and showed no visible injuries, though medical personnel responded and evaluated her. Investigators say the dispute continued inside the camper, where Jensen allegedly took the victim’s phone multiple times and disconnected active 911 calls in an effort to prevent her from contacting law enforcement. The victim was ultimately able to conceal the phone and complete a call for help while attempting to retreat to a neighboring residence.
Deputies reported that the victim fled the camper and sought help from a nearby residence while remaining on the line with a 911 call taker. Jensen allegedly fled the property before deputies arrived.
In a separate but related case the same morning, deputies investigated reports that Jensen had violated an active domestic violence injunction by remaining in contact with and staying near the protected person. Court records confirmed the injunction prohibited Jensen from coming within 500 feet of the victim or having any form of contact. Deputies later reviewed video footage from the property that allegedly showed Jensen present at the residence in violation of the court order.
The affidavits also note prior domestic violence history involving the same victim in another Florida county, as well as concerns raised to deputies about ongoing control, isolation, and escalating behavior.
Jensen was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant person, tampering with a victim or witness, and violation of a domestic violence injunction. Court records indicate the charges include felony counts and that no bond was set at the time of arrest.
