Spring has arrived in South Marion, and with it comes that familiar mix of worship services, pastel colors, and plastic eggs. Across Belleview and Summerfield, churches and community groups are preparing for a full slate of Easter events that range from sunrise services to egg hunts where speed, and a well-positioned basket can make all the difference.
• New Bethel Community Church in Summerfield is kicking things off early with its Easter Egg Hunt and Community Picnic on Saturday, March 28. Festivities run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the hunt beginning promptly at 11:30 a.m. Organizers promise free food, including hamburgers and hot dogs, along with candy and prizes for participants.
• First Baptist Church of Summerfield is offering a full Easter weekend schedule centered on the meaning behind the holiday. Events begin with a Good Friday service on April 3 at 6 p.m., followed by a sunrise service at 8:00 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 5, with free breakfast to follow. Sunday School and a traditional worship service round out the morning.
• At VFW Post 8083 in Belleview, the Vietnam Veterans Associates of America Chapter 1152 will host an Easter Egg Hunt on April 4 at 11 a.m. The event will include eggs, games, and prizes, with organizers reminding attendees to bring their own baskets.
