Residents interested in serving on the Belleview City Commission will soon have the opportunity to place their names on the ballot as the city prepares for its 2026 municipal election.
The Belleview City Commission approved the qualifying period for candidates seeking City Commission Seat 1 and City Commission Seat 3 during Tuesday evening’s meeting. The qualifying period will open Monday, Aug. 17, at 8 a.m. and close Thursday, Aug. 20, at 4 p.m. Candidates must file the required paperwork with the City Clerk during that time to appear on the November ballot.
Seat 1 is currently held by Commissioner Michael Goldman and Seat 3 is currently held by Commissioner Ronald T. Livsey.
According to the city’s election information, candidates must have lived within the Belleview city limits for at least one year immediately preceding the election, be a resident of Florida and a United States citizen, be a qualified voter, be at least 18 years old, and pay the required qualifying and state assessment fees.
The city conducts nonpartisan elections for commission seats, meaning candidates do not run with a political party affiliation. The 2026 municipal election will determine who serves the next terms representing Seat 1 and Seat 3 on the Belleview City Commission.
