A Belleview man was arrested July 23 after deputies said he violated an active domestic violence injunction, resisted arrest and threatened to shoot a law enforcement officer.
James T. Kirk Vidican, 34, was charged with violating an injunction for protection against domestic violence, resisting an officer without violence and threatening death or serious bodily harm to a law enforcement officer.
According to a Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit, deputies were called to a residence at approximately 10:24 p.m. after the protected person reported Vidican was at the home and moving between the front and back yards.
The injunction, issued March 19, prohibited Vidican from going within 500 feet of the residence or contacting the protected person, according to the affidavit.
A deputy reported finding Vidican sitting in a chair on the back porch. Deputies repeatedly ordered him to stand, turn around and place his hands behind his back, but he allegedly questioned the commands and refused to comply.
Two deputies activated their electronic disabling devices before one deputy deployed his device, striking Vidican in the waist and leg. Deputies said Vidican continued pulling away as they attempted to handcuff him, but he was secured following a brief struggle.
During an interview, Vidican reportedly said he believed the injunction had been dropped and did not know he was prohibited from returning to the residence. Deputies confirmed the injunction remained active.
While being transported to the Marion County Jail, Vidican allegedly threatened to shoot the arresting deputy in the head. He was taken to the jail without further incident and was being held without bond.
