MCFR Contains Summerfield House Fire, No Injuries Reported

Marion County Fire Rescue firefighters quickly brought a residential structure fire under control Saturday evening after flames broke through the roof of a home in Summerfield.


Crews were dispatched at 7:15 p.m. to the 8100 block of SE 131st Place after multiple 911 callers reported smoke coming from the residence.
Spruce Creek Station #30 arrived one minute later to find the approximately 3,000-square-foot home with flames showing through the roof. Firefighters immediately deployed hose lines and began an aggressive attack on the fire.

Battalion Chief #3 established command and coordinated incoming crews as additional firefighters from Belleview Station #18, The Villages Station #10, Weirsdale Station #27 and Shady Station #16 responded to assist.


Firefighters entered the home through the garage while search crews completed both primary and secondary searches to ensure no one was inside. Officials said the residents were not home when the fire began.


The fire was brought under control at 7:31 p.m., just 16 minutes after crews were dispatched.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
The cause and origin of the fire remain under investigation.
