Motorcyclist Dies After Crash Near State Road 326

A 59-year-old Anthony man died Saturday afternoon after his motorcycle left the roadway and struck a traffic sign before crashing into a ditch, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.


The crash occurred at approximately 4:27 p.m. on County Road 35, north of State Road 326. Investigators said the motorcyclist was traveling north when he attempted to negotiate a left-hand curve. The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and its front struck a fixed traffic sign, throwing the rider from the motorcycle. The motorcycle then continued forward before colliding with a ditch.


The rider was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. FHP identified the motorcyclist only as a 59-year-old man from Anthony. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.


The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol.
