A 42-year-old Eustis man was killed Friday morning after his pickup truck left the roadway, overturned, and ejected him onto Interstate 75 in Marion County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6 a.m. on southbound I-75 near mile marker 366. Investigators said the pickup was traveling south when, for reasons still under investigation, it drifted across all three southbound lanes and struck the guardrail.
The truck overturned and came to rest in the outside northbound lane. During the rollover, the driver was ejected into the northbound travel lanes and was pronounced dead at the scene. FHP reported the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
Northbound lanes of I-75 were closed for several hours while troopers investigated the crash and diverted traffic around the scene.
