An early morning fire lit up the sky over Belleview on August 6, when an abandoned home in the 4400 block of SE 155th Street went up in flames just after 6 a.m.
Marion County Fire Rescue crews from Belleview, Shady, and Spruce Creek stations sprang into action after a neighbor reported smoke and flames coming from the back of the structure. Arriving on scene at 6:23 a.m., Belleview’s crew found the home already about 50% consumed by fire.
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack while crews confirmed no one was inside. With hoses deployed and ventilation completed to clear out smoke and heat, the fire was under control just ten minutes later at 6:33 a.m.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
