A Marion County man is facing three charges after a juvenile told investigators about a series of alleged domestic violence incidents spanning several years, including one in which she said he strangled her until her vision became blurry and another that allegedly left her with a bruise on her forehead.
Ismannuel Raul Sanchez Rodriguez is charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation, felony aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony and misdemeanor domestic battery, according to two Marion County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavits filed Sept. 7.
The allegations surfaced when a sheriff’s deputy assisted the Florida Department of Children and Families with an interview concerning possible domestic violence in a household. During the interview, the juvenile allegedly disclosed several past incidents involving Sanchez Rodriguez.
One of the most serious allegedly occurred sometime in October 2023.
According to the affidavit, the juvenile said an argument began over dirty dishes while she was in the kitchen. She alleged Sanchez Rodriguez approached her from behind holding an egg frying pan and raised it as though he was going to strike her.
The juvenile said she immediately covered her head with her arms. Sanchez Rodriguez allegedly stopped short of hitting her and threw the pan down.
She then retreated to her bedroom and locked the door in an attempt to get away from him, according to the affidavit. Investigators say Sanchez Rodriguez followed her and forced his way through the locked door, causing it to swing open and leave a hole in the wall.
The juvenile alleged Sanchez Rodriguez then grabbed her around the throat with both hands and tightened his grip until her vision became blurry. She and another person fought back, according to the affidavit, and he eventually released her when the doorbell rang.
The juvenile said she did not have photographs of injuries from that incident because her phone had allegedly been destroyed and remained unusable for several weeks. She recalled her throat being sore when she swallowed or talked for several days afterward.
Some signs of the alleged confrontation apparently remained years later.
The juvenile told investigators the hole in the wall had since been plastered over, but the damage to the bedroom door remained visible. She alleged Sanchez Rodriguez had switched the damaged bedroom door with a closet door in an attempt to conceal the hole from visiting family members.
A witness also told investigators she recalled a separate incident several years earlier in which Sanchez Rodriguez allegedly strangled the juvenile. The witness said she did not see the entire encounter but recalled seeing him break down the juvenile’s locked door and hearing yelling and what may have been a physical altercation.
Another witness recalled an incident in which Sanchez Rodriguez broke down the juvenile’s bedroom door because it was locked, but did not describe that encounter as physical.
But investigators say the allegations did not end with incidents from years ago.
The juvenile also described an alleged encounter from Dec. 28, 2025.
According to a separate affidavit, she said an argument began between her and Sanchez Rodriguez over her boyfriend. She alleged Sanchez Rodriguez accused her of “prostitution” and repeatedly poked her in the forehead with his pointer finger in a forceful manner, eventually leaving a bruise.
Unlike the alleged 2023 encounter, investigators say the juvenile had photographic evidence of the injury.
She provided a photograph dated Dec. 29, the day after the alleged incident. The deputy described the photograph as showing a small, round bruise in the middle of her forehead that appeared consistent with a finger. That allegation resulted in the misdemeanor domestic battery charge.
Based on the juvenile’s statements, witness accounts, the remaining damage described at the residence and the photograph from the 2025 incident, investigators determined there was probable cause for the three charges contained in the two affidavits.
