MCFR Battles Early Morning Structure Fire in Ocala

On June 5, Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) units were dispatched early this morning to a significant residential structure fire at 20 Juniper Pass Way, Ocala. The first call came in at 3:06 a.m., with multiple 911 callers reporting visible smoke and flames engulfing the porch and garage of the home.

Belleview Station #18 was the first to arrive on scene at 3:14 a.m., encountering heavy smoke and fire penetrating the roof. Firefighters immediately began an offensive attack, but the intensity of the blaze, compounded by ammunition discharging within the house, prompted Command Officers to switch to a defensive strategy for safety.

Additional units from Shores Station #17, Rolling Greens Station #28, Shady Station #16, Weirsdale Station #27, and Spruce Creek Station #30 arrived shortly thereafter to assist in containing the fire. Engine 18 positioned for a defensive attack on the front of the structure while Engine 28 covered the rear. Firefighters from Engine #17 conducted a primary search, and Rescue #17 completed a secondary search; fortunately, both searches reported no findings of individuals inside.

The fire was declared under control by 3:41 a.m. The cause and origin of the blaze remain under investigation, but it has been confirmed that no civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.

Residents are reminded to ensure their homes are equipped with working smoke detectors and to review their emergency preparedness plans regularly.
