St. Theresa’s Catholic Church presented a Feast of Corpus Christi Procession at Lake Lillian on Robinson Rd. in Belleview on Sunday, June 2, 2024, beginning at 12:15 PM and continuing until approximately 1:30 PM. Several prominent ministries of the parish participated, including the Knights of Columbus, the Ladies Guild, and the Spanish Community, with the procession beginning at the large pavilion and following the path around the lake.
Also known as the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, the Corpus Christi celebration featured a solemn parade with the priest, Rev. Thomas Connery, carrying the Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion, in an ornate vessel called a monstrance. The procession honors Jesus Christ as being truly present—body, blood, soul, and divinity—in the Eucharist, under the appearances of bread and wine, as is believed by the Roman Catholic and Orthodox religions.
“By presenting the Eucharist in such a manner, the procession is an extension of the worship of God in the Catholic Mass as members of the parish bring Jesus, present in the Eucharist, to be viewed, venerated, and worshipped by the Belleview community, uniting all believers as one Christian family,” said Rev. Thomas Connery, pastor of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church.
