Man’s Love Letter Lands Him in Jail: Threats and Cocaine Don’t Mix
In yet another tale of Florida man antics, Robert Fitch, of Marion County, managed to find himself on the wrong side of the law this week. Deputies responded to a disturbance call on June 13, 2024, where Fitch’s creative interpretation of resolving a civil matter landed him in hot water.
The commotion began when Steve McLellan, the original call’s focal point, claimed his girlfriend, Amy Elder, had made off with $300 of his hard-earned cash. Fitch, feeling particularly proactive, decided the best course of action was to text Elder a polite reminder to return the money, threatening to “slice her f****** throat open” if she didn’t comply.
As the police report details, Fitch’s love letter to Elder left little to the imagination. With text messages in hand, the authorities promptly arrested Fitch. During the arrest, Fitch, ever the cooperative citizen, admitted to possessing one gram of cocaine. Fitch is currently cooling his heels at TimberRidge Hospital, pending transfer to Marion County Jail.
