In an appalling act of wildlife crime, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FFWCC) officials are on the hunt for the individual(s) responsible for fatally shooting a black bear cub.
The young bear’s body was discovered near Forest Road and 247th Court in northeast Marion County, north of CR 314 in Salt Springs.
Details are scant, but the FFWCC hopes a $500 reward will incentivize someone to paw forward with information. If you have any tips that might help crack the case, contact the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922, or visit Wildlife Alert online. Let’s help ensure justice is served, and keep our bear cubs safe from harm.
