Jealousy, Accusations, and a Night Gone Wrong: Domestic Dispute Leads to Arrest in Marion County
In the early hours of July 29th, Deputy K. Gonzalez of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance that had already left its mark on a victim.
The victim, her face a mosaic of bruises and abrasions, recounted a night of heavy drinking, escalating arguments, and accusations of infidelity with her boyfriend, Paul Anthony Gomez.
Upon arrival, Deputy Gonzalez found Davis with significant facial injuries: redness, swelling, and discoloration around both eyes, petechiae in both eyes, an abrasion on her forehead, and splotchy red marks on her neck and elbow. According to the victim, the couple had returned home from a neighbor’s house around 6:00 AM after a night of heavy drinking. The tension between them had reached a boiling point, fueled by Gomez’s increasing jealousy and paranoia. Though heavily intoxicated, the victim admitted she might have antagonized the situation, even suggesting she could have struck Gomez first.
When contacted, Gomez maintained his innocence, stating bluntly, “Her face is f***ed up but that didn’t have s*** to do with me dude.” He claimed the victim fell and mentioned her history of seizures. However, his lack of any injuries to his knuckles and the nature of Davis’s injuries told a different story.
With the evidence at hand and the victm’s account, Deputy Gonzalez arrested Gomez for domestic battery. Gomez, who turned himself in at the Sheriff’s Office, was read his Miranda rights, waived them, and was transported to the Marion County Jail without further incident.
