(Photos: Ocala Fire Rescue) I-75 became the stage for a high-octane spectacle this morning as a tractor trailer collided into a guardrail, transforming a stretch of the busy interstate into a parking lot. The drama unfolded around 11:28 a.m. near exit 350, stretching the traffic woe to mile marker 339.

Ocala Fire Rescue, with Engine 6, Rescue 6, and Battalion Chief 11 at the helm, rushed to the scene. They were greeted by the sight of a big rig’s cab lounging on the right shoulder guardrail, its trailer playing a game of “you shall not pass” with the right-most northbound lane. To add a touch of danger to the morning’s theater, a fuel leak demanded immediate attention.
With the Road Rangers masterfully directing the traffic symphony, Ocala Fire Rescue crews ensured the driver was unharmed and quickly tackled the fuel leak, summoning the state warning point for reinforcements. Absorbent materials were deployed with finesse to prevent further hazards.

The plot thickened as the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) called in a structural integrity assessment of the State Road 200 overpass, ensuring the audience’s safety. Once the emergency curtain fell, FHP and the Department of Transportation (DOT) took over for the grand finale of clearance and cleanup.
The curtain call came at around 2:30 p.m., as regular traffic patterns resumed, leaving motorists with a story to tell and a newfound appreciation for the unpredictability of life on the road.
