On Thursday, August 29, 2024, it was a warm and sunny day, perfect for four adult day training programs to get outside and have some fun. Kenny’s Place Nursery, located at 7677 SE 41st Ct in Ocala, hosted the Fun Olympics. Kenny’s Place, along with the three other participating adult day training programs—ARC of Marion, Bridge to Hope, and TLC—serve intellectually disabled adults of Marion County at no cost to the families.

The fun began at 10:00 AM with the National Anthem, followed by a prayer from Senator Dennis Baxley. Then the games kicked off, with athletes competing in events like the Egg in a Spoon Race, Fly Swatter Golf, Pool Noodle Javelin, and more. All 48 participating athletes received trophies and medals.

There were 10 volunteers on hand to help out, along with staff from each participating adult day training program. This event was the brainchild of Betsy Poore, the General Manager of Kenny’s Place Nursery. Betsy took the lead in organizing this interactive event that all the athletes enjoyed.
